Welcome to the Build the Church podcast, where we help you gain momentum, grow your church, and go the distance in ministry. I'm Josh Roberts, and today I want to ask you a question. What is the problem that you're currently facing as a church? I'm willing to guess it's in one of these areas. Getting new people to come to your church, getting the new people to connect to your church, get connected people to join a team, raising up leaders from the connected people, and raising money. Most churches are facing those five issues repeatedly throughout their history. They just go back and rediscover new ways of how to solve those problems. Today I want to help you solve one of those problem areas, and that is helping connected people join a team. So a lot of churches are seeing people come to church. They're doing a great job in that area. And they can even see people taking next step to get connected. But how do you get them involved? How do you get them servant? And how do you match them to the right team where they feel fulfilled and they are making a difference in your church and they're really part of your community? I heard someone say once about volunteers that churches don't really need all those volunteers. But what they need to do is create an opportunity for people to feel needed. If you think about it this way, when you go to Walmart or any larger grocery store or the mall to park, how many people are out there parking cars? None. Everyone knows how to park a car. They don't forget how to park a car whenever they get to church. We have volunteers to park cars at church so that people begin to feel welcomed when they come to church and we begin to create that experience for them. But also because we know that when people get involved and start serving on a team, they feel that buy-in. They feel more a part of the mission and more a part of the vision of the church. And they stay connected and they bring more people to the church. It's just like those plays where your kid might have a small part. You don't care how small that part is, you feel part of that play. You're going to buy tickets to that play. You're going to invite friends and family to come and see your kid play the tree in the play. Now, I hope your kid gets cast in a better part than a tree, but even if they are, we know we still love that play. It's the same thing with churches and volunteers. I want to help you place more volunteers on Teams at your church. And that is why I created your team.church. Your team.church is a digital assessment tool that provides you with a custom URL for your church that matches volunteers to a team based on how God designed them. And it does this automatically in the results. So everyone leaves your next step, growth track, or discovery class knowing what's the best next step for me to take if I want to join a team. And they do it seeing how God created them and knowing what life is like for them on that team based on their personality. So let me ask you another question. Right now, how are you connecting people to a team? And how are you bringing them through a spiritual gift and disc assessment? Hopefully, you're not still using paper and pen. And you know what? That's great. Paper and pen is awesome, but a lot of technology has changed over the years. And there's no need for people in your church to be taking an assessment like caveman. Okay. You can give them something on their phone that they can use, that they can save to their email, that they can save to their files, and that you can have sync up with your church management system that lets you know how God has created that person and how you can help them as a church. So let me jump in here and show you a couple things that your team can do to help your church place more volunteers in a spot where they can thrive. So right now, if you're watching this on YouTube, I am sharing my screen. But if you're not, if you're listening to this in the car or while you're working out, you can still follow along and get an idea of what's going on. I'm going to start with the results page. When someone takes a your team.church assessment, they get a results page at the end of their assessment that has their name, their disc style. And if you're using all five assessments that are available in your team.church, they get a lot deeper results. For example, they will also get their APES score, which is the fivefold ministry. You can do Enneagram and your type profile. So when they get the disk results, instead of just getting two letters or one letter, they get a percentage. And that is what makes our assessment different is we don't just match people based on spiritual gift, but also personality. So most tests that I've been able to find online are only using spiritual gifts. Let me tell you why that doesn't work. So if I find out I'm a teacher, I might get matched to a volunteer role because that's what God has gifted me to do to teach. But the personality portion of it shows how God has equipped me to accomplish that task of teaching. The difference between teaching a small group and teaching at a conference is huge. And so I believe by incorporating personality gifting and using a matrix, not just two letters, but the composite of the entire score to build profiles out on your team, you can better match people on a team. So the other thing that your team.church does that is unique to your team is that every person who takes it gets a custom teamwork style that has been created by your team.church. And so when they take the test, they find out how they were created to work on a team, who they pair well with, and what will motivate them as a team. You also get your top five spiritual gifts and there's a percentage match to it. I like to show the percentage because when people see their spiritual gift, they might say, well, that's not an exact fit for me. And they're 100% right. And sometimes it should be a hundred percent match. In this case, the person has a score of 100% on helps. It's supported by scripture, but hopefully they feel that that helps is their ministry because it was such a strong score. The fivefold ministry gift assessment is delivered as well. This person has a tie for profit and evangelists, and they are an Enneagram 7 wing six. And then there's an Enneagram profile written just for your team.church that they could view and find out more about them and their other high scores. And then we also do the type profile. You might be wondering how am I able to offer the type profile? The research on the type profile is in the common domain. 16personalities.com has built a million-dollar business off of that. And so what I've done is taken that research and then customize it for your team. If you're a tight profile church, you can use this for your team, for your volunteers to understand their type profile. And if you really love the Enneagram, there's two versions of the Enneagram available on the assessment. So you can do the short version if you want to get through it quicker, or if you want to go more in-depth, there is a longer version that gives much deeper results so that you don't feel like you're taking an assessment and getting and getting free test level results, that you're getting paid test level results with your team every single time. The next thing that's really powerful is that if you are utilizing both the Enneagram and the type profile, you get an inner wiring section in the results, but everybody gets a personal portrait. That's a one-of-one results page written just for the individual that no one else in the world gets. Whenever they get it, they are matched to a biblical figure. We also have similar wiring underneath. So if they don't identify with that one biblical figure right off the bat, they can look up some others. We always include a female because I noticed that some of the spiritual gift tests out there, you know, would only match people to a male. And I didn't feel that that was accurate. And then in that, it's a biblical, encouraging, one-of-one description written just for them, how God created them, hopefully giving new believers confidence and believers confidence that God has designed them in a unique way to do great things, and then it gives them ways they can grow. And then here's the deal it gives you your top team matches for your church. So when people read the descriptions of the team matches, instead of just being matched to a team at the church, which alone I think is awesome, it gives them what it's like for their personality on that team and why they will thrive in that role. So if you're using pen and paper, you don't get that, right? They take their score, could be right or wrong based on how good they are at math. They flip through a page, they look for a team, and they read that team description. This tells them what it's like on that team for their specific personality every single time and why they will thrive on that team based on how God has wired them. It's amazing. And so they can download that, they can send it to their friends, their family, they can keep it for themselves, and it is a great resource for them. But here's the thing, it also syncs with your website. So you get a dashboard of volunteers that have taken your test that you can search. So you can search by Teams. How many know sometimes you need to search and find someone for kids' ministry? You can search by personality type and you can search by name to find people at your church and their profile. Great if you want to meet with someone and help them find their spot on their team or just want to understand how God has wired them. I didn't like the fact that so many people are taking the personality assessment and it's just disappearing after the fact. I wanted it to live somewhere. So there is a permission button when people take the assessment. It's automatically clicked on the website that you're gonna share your results with your church. It is assumed that if you're taking this at the church, that the church is giving the results, but I just wanted to make sure you felt confident as a pastor and leader that you were covered, that the results are being shared. So they can unclick it if they want to before they take the assessment. And then you can display whichever assessments you want your church to take. Most churches are gonna do the personality and spiritual gifts, but the other three, the fivefold ministry, a pes, enneagram, and type profile, are there as well if you want people to take those. Okay. So if you go to the your team.church website, you can get an overview of how it works. You can watch the tutorials. There is a demo section, there is a blog that kind of talks through some of the different things, and you can find the pricing. There is a free version of your team.church right now. That means everybody who wants to use this technology that is not able to pay for it can take advantage of it today. There is no team matching in the free version. You do get disc, you do get spiritual gift, and you do get the teamwork profile that is unique to your team.church. So everybody finds out about how they work on a team, no matter if they can have a subscription or not. So that is available, no customization, but you can take it for free right now. Don't use any other disc or spiritual gift tests. This is the best one, and it's free. 236 people at this point in time have taken it already. There's a counter right there on the page. I wanted to make this accessible to everyone. So there is a connect plan that's only $12 a month. On the connect plan, you do not get all of the customization, but you do get the team matching and you do get the unique URL. So you get a unique URL, you get all the assessments, all five, and you get to match people to a team. But there's a lot more customization that's available to you, and there's a lot more things that you can get out of the results if you get the pro plan, which is $79 a month when you pay for it yearly. You get everything in the connect tier, you get the deeper dive into the personal portrait, you get more biblical figure matches, the inner wiring is deeper, you get an expanded type profile cognitive function that's not available outside of the pro tier. You get the pastor dashboard with everyone's results, you get customizable teams, some of which I'm going to show you. You get AI help on writing the team profiles, and you get the church management sync, planning center, rock, and CHMS. So you get logins for your staff, and then you can change the URL at any time, and your old link will still work. And then there's enterprise if you want some real deep customization. Okay. Let's look at the settings and see how you can set this up quick and easy for your church. Whenever you sign up for your team.church, it takes about 60 seconds once you confirm your email to set up your church. And all you do is you type your church name, it automatically pops up a URL based on your church name, and you can change it to be whatever you would like. You upload your logo, you pick your colors based on your hex code or the color wheel is available to you. What you can also do is if you don't call your team volunteers, if you call them dream team, door holders, whatever you call them, you can change the name of the volunteer so they refer to the name that you use at your church, and you can rename the assessment. The customization is quick and easy. Great news, available in English or Spanish. At any point, someone can click Spanish and take the test in either language. You can customize your own welcome message, hit save and view the public page. Also available is you may not want everyone to see all the assessments because you don't want them to get confused. So you can click which assessments are available. And again, if you're on the pro tier, you can do the in-depth Enneagram or the brief Enneagram. And then another thing that's available on the settings page is customization on the spiritual gifts. So if you want to remove a spiritual gift from the assessment for whatever reason, you can just click the button and no one will be matched to a team based on that spiritual gift. So I wanted to make that available to you so you can customize that to best fit your church. And then you can change uh your notifications, you can sync it in planning center. And here's a really great tool, a really great way people are using it. You can sync it with AI so that you can ask AI about the people in your church before you meet with them, and it'll tell you how to help them. Okay. So it's simple as if it's connected to your enterprise claude or chat GPT account, you say, I'm gonna meet with Charlie Brown either to coach, to connect, or to counsel. What do I need to know? And it'll tell you how God has wired them, what their personality is, how to best coach, counsel, or connect with them. It'll tell you what team that you should suggest for them to join as a follow-up. You can ask them questions. Hey, have you ever done served in worship ministry before? And they'll wonder, how do you know that? Because they took the assessment and it's connected to your AI. So typical settings stuff there for you to look at. Now the dashboard is going to give you an overview of who can sign in and who has access and what's going on. You can in the dashboard, you can click QR code and boom, just like that, you can download it. You can print that in your booklet or put it on the screen for people to take your assessment. Now the Teams function is super cool. It's it's one of the things that I'm most excited about, and that is you can add a team at any point. So I can come in here and put a pickleball team. It's pickleball one word or two, I don't know, and I can click help me write, and AI will help me write a description for that team. Or I can write it myself and then click suggest profile with AI, and it'll build a profile for that team based on the description that I gave. So if you use AI, obviously I think you should read it and match it up to your church, but it gives you a head start. And then when you click suggest profile, the AI summary lets you know the confidence level that it has that it built a profile that's accurate to that team. So in this case, it has a high confidence because I polished with AI first or wrote it with AI, you can always polish it again later. If it gets a low confidence score, it's probably because your description isn't clear. And so you can go in and rewrite that description and make it clear. And then it builds the disc profile, spiritual gifts, and the APES optional. You may not want a five-fold minister gift connected to a team because it would limit it the search a little bit. But if you do want one, you can click it there. And then you can change the team. So maybe you think this team has something to do with craftsmanship. You can click that. I didn't want the AI to build a profile and the teams leading the teams not know what those profiles are. So another good thing is like if this is a high I team, but let's say you want to start matching more D personalities, you just change it just like that. And then now you have that type of personality connecting to your team. So if you're wondering how the disc work, it's no secret. I wanted you to be able to see it so that you can know who's being matched to your teams and you can switch that on or off. Okay. The next thing is there is a your team you page where you can watch tutorials on how to use each aspect of this assessment and how it can help your church. And then also I wanted to show you whenever you take this assessment, so I'm gonna you use myself here. I made it so that the assessment moves quickly. I give a very generous time allotment in the description of estimated time. I think it can be done a lot quicker. And one of the things that I did when creating it was I didn't want the buttons to move around and I didn't want people to have to click and then click next. I wanted it just to move to the next. The other thing that I found that annoyed me about other assessments is you click back, it can lose your information. I wanted to click back, you could have your information, change it, and then automatically move forward without having to double click. Makes the assessment move a lot faster. So that's the assessment. There's some really great things happening with it. There's lots of churches signing up for it right now, getting great feedback. I'd love for you to try it out, see if it helps you connect more volunteers to teams. Tell me what you'd like to see, tell me what's not working, what is working for you. I've loved the feedback I've gotten so far on it. People seem to be pretty excited. Love the customization that people are doing with it. And yeah, you can go into the teams at any point and not just add a new team, but you can also set the teams to be exactly what your church has. So it's a great tool, it's a great innovation. You know, when I was younger, I remember the the first, you know, new believers class I took. I probably was in like eighth grade or something, and saw my personality, saw that God had created me uniquely, and it just really, really encouraged me to get involved with the church at a young age. And I stayed involved, became a leader in my youth group, led all the way through college, joined the church staff. A lot of that is due to God getting hold of my heart early on. And that's what this tool does. I hope that it's something that God can use to help people feel seen, known, discover their place in the church, their purpose in the church, and the people that they can serve with. So if you have any questions about this, I would love to schedule a demo with you and show you how your team.church can work for you. I'd love to even set it up with you to make sure you get the most customization out of it. It's very easy to use. I want you to try it for free for 30 days, see if you like it without any strings attached, and then be off to the races helping every volunteer find a place where they can thrive at your church. Well, thank you for joining me for this special episode of the Build the Church podcast. I want to help you place more volunteers on Teams to help build your church. That's the goal of this podcast. Every week I want to give you something practical that you can take and apply at your church right away. Thank you for joining me today. I can't wait for you to be with us next time. Until then, let's go build the church.
